Why Downtown Dogs

Great way to spend the day!
It’s important to choose the right daycare. But look no further, Downtown Dogs knows dogs better than anyone!
Why Downtown Dogs?
Biggest Play Rooms
We have the largest playrooms of any daycare, giving your pup the most room to run and get worn out.
Open Air Design
We are the only daycare in town that is confident enough in the dogs experience and the play space to let you see (and hear and smell) everything from the reception area as you walk in. There is no wondering what is going on behind closed doors. Seeing the playroom through a window or camera does not let you hear and smell and see up close.
Convenience
Our location is the ultimate of convenience and our hours and flexibility cannot be beat. This makes it easy for you to give your dog the very best care.
Knowledgeable, Caring Staff
Owner Anne Hendrickson is one of the country’s leading experts in canine social behavior and group dynamics. She consults with many national organizations. This means the staff caring for your dog is more highly trained than any other facility. Our nurturing, energetic staff will really connect with your pet! We take care of each dog as if they were our own. This is more than just a job to us!
Social Responsibility
Helping less fortunate dogs
By doing something great for your dog, you are also helping many others! Downtown Dogs donates a large portion of our revenue to helping less fortunate dogs. Downtown Dogs fosters over 100 homeless dogs per year. We also support dogs at Underdog Rescue, Pet Haven, and Home for Life Animal Sanctuary.
Green
We are stewards not only of animals but the entire planet. Our “green” practices are quite impressive:
- The rubber mats in the New York Room save your dogs joints and save over 20,0000 tires from landfills
- Our HVAC/Air filtration systems take about the same amount of electricity as a 100 watt light bulb.
- Our white roof reduces greenhouse emissions to the ozone and saves significant amounts of natural resources with its energy efficiency.
It doesn’t end there
- On their own time our staff donates our left over food to Red Lake Rosies
- Staff and owner volunteer in the community with our Certified Therapy Dogs
- We have lots of community involvement in building dog parks, helping the neighborhood and volunteering on boards for the City of Minneapolis
Local & Independent
Downtown Dogs locally and independently (and woman) owned. We are Quorum members and strong allies of the GLBT community. We are active in the neighborhood and on city boards.
So, by supporting Downtown Dogs you are doing so much more than helping your own dog! You helping homeless dogs, the environment and your local economy.
Commitment to Customer Service
We listen to our customers needs and wants. We are committed to our 2 legged clients as well as our 4 legged clients! We want you to have a great experience each time you leave your dog with us. Our staff is not only friendly and flexible, we want to go the extra mile for you every time.
